I notice that on some keywords, you just get the adwords listings on the right hand side of the SERPS. On others, you get one or two adwords listings across the top of the SERPS.

Under what conditions do they move from the right to across the top?

Jon12345, this topic has been discussed in this Forum many times in the recent past - so a site search should bring you a lot more information.

However, very briefly, ads are placed in the top two spots when they have met an additional performance standard, that focuses on CTR - as a measure of the ad's relevance to Google's users.

So, short story, it is an excellent CTR, rather than paying more, that gets you to the top.

Also, only ads that have been reviewed and approved can go up top.

Ok, thanks. I'm not sure what the top position is called so not quite sure what to search on!

May I ask, what time period is your sites "keyword status" measured over? I ask this because I have recently changed the ad and my clickthrough rate has gone up significantly. However, it is still classed as Moderate.

So, do you take the last weeks results or what time period is it calculated over?
