I've just started a new site, which is an online school to help Japanese students of English understand the differences between English and Japanese when doing translation. My goal is to have about 20-50 students using the service a few times a month each so the next few weeks/months will be spent trying to gather these students. I know exactly where my target market is on the Internet - there are about 10 sites that use Google AdWords and it's these very sites where I want my Google AdWords ad to appear. I set up my AdWords account, added these sites, and made sure the language and location was set to Japan. At the moment I'm just experimenting so I've set my advertising budget at £10.00/day and my maximum CPM also at £10.00. In the "Edit Sites and CPM" page Google says my site stands a 'good chance' that it will appear. I launched it about 24 hours ago but so far nothing. No clicks, no impressions, nothing. Am I missing something here? Am I not understanding how this whole AdWords thing works? Am I not paying enough or what? And am I right to assume that since my CPM and daily budget are both at £10.00/day my ad should therefore be shown 1000 times?

I wrote to Google a few hours ago to ask why nothing is happening but they haven't replied yet, and going by the content of some of the posts on this forum I probably shouldn't expect a reply for a few days.

Your comments appreciated!

I think patience is key in a situation like that - maybe the offer you have made is simply too low for the websites that you are targeting. If prices drop for these websites, your ad will show up.

I understand you are running a Site targeting Campaign on a CPM base. You can also try on a CPC base (pay only for clicks, not impresions).
From what you are saying sounds like your texts or banners have not been yet approved to run - it's a more complicated procedure.
Just be patient and eventually try to add more texts and banners.
PS: Some sites are not available for Site targeting, some are accepting only text ads, etc...

Thanks for your replies. It turns out that I didn't have enough contact details on my website them to give approval. Because of Japanese law all companies need to have their address, contact number etc on their websites. I've put those details up there, just waiting for another response now...
