I've just started a new site, which is an online school to help Japanese students of English understand the differences between English and Japanese when doing translation. My goal is to have about 20-50 students using the service a few times a month each so the next few weeks/months will be spent trying to gather these students. I know exactly where my target market is on the Internet - there are about 10 sites that use Google AdWords and it's these very sites where I want my Google AdWords ad to appear. I set up my AdWords account, added these sites, and made sure the language and location was set to Japan. At the moment I'm just experimenting so I've set my advertising budget at £10.00/day and my maximum CPM also at £10.00. In the "Edit Sites and CPM" page Google says my site stands a 'good chance' that it will appear. I launched it about 24 hours ago but so far nothing. No clicks, no impressions, nothing. Am I missing something here? Am I not understanding how this whole AdWords thing works? Am I not paying enough or what? And am I right to assume that since my CPM and daily budget are both at £10.00/day my ad should therefore be shown 1000 times?
I wrote to Google a few hours ago to ask why nothing is happening but they haven't replied yet, and going by the content of some of the posts on this forum I probably shouldn't expect a reply for a few days.
