Weird Broad Matches

Far to Broad match for my liking

Hi

Has anyone recently experienced broad match keywords appearing on matches that are only sector linked and not necessarily keyword linked?

I was advertising on the keyword mortgage on a broad match and the advert appeared under loan. It has happened twice but it seems to have stopped. I just wondered if anyone else had ever seen it?

I have noticed it after a recent push on negatives.

Hi 300m, Did this bring your spend down significantly so you went from full spend budget on daily to left over budget every day? This is when it happened to me.

My spending went down significantly, but I think a lot of those keywords were hidden under the unique orther section and were released after adding the negatives. Another thing I noticed is that adgroup negatives work very well, but you need to keep running the reports for a while because if you have a similar adgroup in a different campaign, those keywords will start to appear in those adgroups. I use campaign negatives when I can, but a lot of times we cant use the negatives because of the natuire of the beast. Adgroups are tedious to ad negatives when you are talking about large accounts, but they are worth it, just constant checking on all adgroups is necessary if you notice an increse in ad spend because the other ads that fit the broad match are going to be served because you added negatives to the one that cost a lot of money...
