Trying to get a feel for the "average" CTR% of some of you guys/gals campaigns...

i deal in real estate so im in a pretty tough one...but my Google + search network is at 0.57% with 79 clicks at just over 13k impressions....

good? bad? average?

i know its dependent on a bunch of factors, but i am thinking i need to push up my budget, and start directing my keywords to use negatives, and " "...

thanks

I would be careful with the " " phrase matching...it doesn't quite work as well as Google describes, and there's a chance it'll cut down on what would have been good traffic.

Use the search query report once a week, and find the queries people are using that should not trigger your ads...sooner or later, you'll get a huge list of negatives so that people looking for your product will see your ad. That's one strategy to boost your CTR - make sure the people seeing it are the people you want to see it.

As for an average, there's not really any way other people can tell you that. I'm not in the real estate business, so i can't tell you how many people you're competing against, what their budgets are...those kinds of things all influence click-through.

I suggest starting with a baseline...if it goes up, figure out why and milk it...if it drops, figure out why and fix it.

Excellent advice! CTR is so relative to what you're doing that it's hard to quantify absolutely.

I'd add that you should consider working on CTR even if it seems good enough - continual improvement approach. And keep in mind that ad group and campaign structure and your match type and keyword strategies have a very large effect on things, it's not just the ad text at work, but the things behind the ad that are triggering it as well.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, seema agarwaal.

Below is link to more information about the Search Query Performance report in particular, including how to create one - followed by a link to a lot more information regarding the AdWords Report Center in a more general sense.

Geez, what is it with Google and them just sending links in place of answers? I blatantly told my reps to never send me links when I ask a question...now they actually answer my questions.

For the search query report, go to the normal "Reports" tab, where you run all your other reports. Click "Search Query Report" for the report type (very first table at the top), then select the campaigns or adgroups you want, your filters etc. etc.

Done!

I would recommend checking out the actual thread regarding the Search Query report for more info on this issue.

You are not able to access the 'All other queries' data in analytics or anywhere else.

So would i have to do some "reverse engineering" and see what queries are bringing up my ads, and then take out or -negative keyword the ones that arent being queried?

What about all of those '#*$! uniques'? How do you view the exact keywords of those? The majority of my searches appear to be broad matched ones...

thanks
