Print Ad Accepted Then Rejected

What is the cancellation policy available to newspapers?

My first experience with bidding on newspaper ads with Google did not go well. On Tuesday I bid for several days of ad placement in a local newspaper and within a few minutes the bid was accepted. However, a few hours later they posted a message saying they would not be able to run the ad. I had not yet uploaded the ad so they could not have used that as the excuse.

Before I get overly upset about this I'm wondering what kind of cancellation policy is available for newspapers. In my case, can they accept and then reject if there is no problem with the content of the ad? If so, how much time do they have to make the rejection decision?

I was interested in giving print ads via Google a try but I am now a little suspect.

I've never had a print ad accepted. the few that I have submitted have been real lowball offers just to see how cheap i could get some print. after I submitted my offers the "system" would accept my submission and then later the newspaper or magazine would reject the offer.

I guess my point is to make sure that the newspaper actually accepted your offer and then if they did, check with Google to see what their policy is.

Yes the ad was absolutely accepted.
