Do you have Content Targeting enabled? It sounds like you do... is that your intention? Do you have any Active keywords in this ad group as well?

It is difficult to tell without actually seeing the account data. Basically, when you delete a keyword, it will not show up in your AdWords interface. It is actually removed from the list of keywords unless you have checked the box for "Include deleted items".

If you are seeing it in your list of keywords and you have not checked this checkbox, then you may need to see if you actually deleted the keywords in question.

When on the ad group view of the campaign, click on the keyword tab. There you will see a date range. Click on "Change range" link. You should see the checkbox for including deleted items.

How are you determining that you are receiving impressions for a deleted keyword?

If you are seeing the deleted keyword in your list of keywords, and the above checkbox was not deleted, you did not delete the keyword in the first place.

If you are searching for the keyword in Google Search to see if it shows your ad, then you may be triggering a broad expanded match. This might make it seem like your ad is being displayed for a keyword that you had already deleted.
