www.#*$!.com/index.aspx?engine=adwords!abc&keyword=%28xx+yy+zz+zz%29&match_type={ifcontent:content}

Can some tell me what is the function of the above parameters? especially the matchtype.
thanks

these are things that somebody has manually added to their ad urls to append more info to the url.

&match_type={ifcontent:content}

they've created a data pair, called match_type, which can be mined from logs or acquired dynamically using get commands when the person lands on the page.

the ifcontent function returns "content" when this ad is clicked on via the content network, but not when it's been distributed through G itself or through the search network.

weird that they called it match type, cuz it'd be more aptly named "channel" or "place" or "method" or "distribution" or whatever, but they can call it anything they like, like &clownshoes={ifcontent:red}, but it makes it harder to remember when you're decoding your own logs or whatever.

see this page for more dynamic functions:

ewhisper is a regular poster here, i don't know him, but it's worthwhile to take note of his posts about ppc here for sure.

good luck!

Hi RHino,

I got the from the website you recommended and have one question.

http://www.example.com?src=AdWords&medium=PPC&campaign=AdGroupName&Network={ifContent:Content}{ifSearch:Search}&kw={keyword}

The above string on the URL, why would I need to src= adword, medium=PPC and campaign=adgroup name when all these parameter are covered in analytic anyway?

thanks

?engine=adwords!abc&keyword=%28xx+yy+zz+zz%29&match_type={ifcontent:content}

This looks like a tracking URL used when someone is using KeywordMax to track revenue from adwords campaigns.

Match_type allows you to see what match type the keyword used was eg broad, phrase, exact or content when you run reports in Keywordmax.
