The Googleslap

Has anyone been reslapped since June?

Google effectively nuked my domain on June 10th, but I came back in with a redesigned domain about a week later. I'm still going strong but I've never regained all the juice I had before they slapped me. As it is now, I pay 20% more for slightly less traffic.

Basically I'm wondering if anyone has been re-slapped with $10 bids after being slapped in June? My thinking is that they only do that during quality score updates which seem to happen every 6 months.

Wait until they hit you with the max bid algo....

I agree they used to change when updating QS... but the inactive etc functions came in when new bidders came into the space - or someone wrote an ad that impacted the CTR averages.

I think the max bid algo is designed to squeeze more money out of the big boys by preventing the little guys from tweaking their pages to score high on the QS algo thereby outranking big budget advertisers.

I average 6th place anyway so I'm not quite sure if it will affect me at all.. I wouldn't want to be in the first two spots anyway because the ROI sucks big time..

Really I just want to know if I've improved my site enough to remain in Adwords or if they'll just slap me again with $10 bids in a few months..

Keeping us in the dark about things like this is what makes me really hate Google..

Keep the faith. Microsoft looks like it's making a serious assault on G's market share. Things will change when G starts feeling the heat. It may take a year or two, but Billy has got the company focused on squashing Google now that vista is done.

Are you sure Microsoft still can win the race against Google?

MS doesn't have to win; it is only necessary to get a bigger share and to deliver quality traffic. Unfortunately, lately, G has increased and consolidated his share, since Yahoo is still not recovering.

If MS has to beat Google, it better improve its search results. From the looks of it, they pretty much have a loooong way to go.

I just posted a thread in the MS AdCenter forum covering this very subject.

[webmasterworld.com...]

The bottom line is that with the same geo locations AdCenter is only providing 1.9% of the impressions that AdWords provide on our main keyword.

Until they GREATLY improve this they will never be a threat to Google.
