2 ads better than 1?

Does anyone have experience with running multiple ads in an Ad Group specifically so people are exposed to different pieces of creative?

Normally, I run multiple ads until I have a tested winner and then stick with just that one ad.

However, I'm wondering if two ads make more sense (especially on the content network). This way if a person comes to a site and doesn't respond to the first ad, there is at least another chance to get them on their next visit with a different piece of creative.

It's a good idea to always continue to test - there's almost always another way to further refine your ad copy to eek out an additional gain, or to pinpoint what exactly it was about the winning copy that caused it to outperform another.

I'm always running AT LEAST two ads, and sometimes a lot more.

We usually start with two and then keep the winner - ROI measured - and then run 75% of that and test 25%.

Just run three of the same ad and one new one without optimization

An ad group should never ever have one ad. You should also always try to make new ads and purge what is not working. What works today might not work tomorrow or next week or next month.

Thanks for the input. I've tested quite a bit, but it does make sense to still test for a percentage of impressions.

AussieWebmaster, that's a great suggestion. Any reason you picked 25%?

It would be great if Google would let you set percentages for showing different ads. This one at 10%, this one at 90%, etc.
