One domain bidding on one keyword (in 2 spots)

I thought this was illegal?

I recently noticed that a competitor has 2 ads showing for one search term. I type the search term in. They have 2 ads. one goes to a regular website. the other goes to a ".info" site (with the same exact content). Since the webpage advertises "one on one help" from this one person, I know it cant be 2 different companies trying to sell the same thing. It's one person, with 2 ads.

Is this illegal? if so, how do I turn them in? Certainly hurting my sales...or can I just post 2 ads up there?

you can report but may be an affiliate redirecting... they allow one... use the links in your account to contact support

You can contact AdWords support to report the problem. Don't count on them doing anything about it, though.

The thread at [webmasterworld.com...] is about the same issue. I've shown Google examples where there are 5-6 ads going to the same site (but with different display URLs), and those ads are still running many weeks later.

If it's about different URLs with same content, folks at Google AdWords team should associate those two URLs so only one shows up at the moment. That is what they are supposed to do. If it's about same sites but different URLs, then it is about invalid display URLs.

Going further into real world, and measuring how much Google AdWords' policy team is actually doing, that is story for itself which has to get the attention it deserves one day, maybe even more than some of the famous click fraud lawsuits from the past.

Why?

Well, if we have 8 ads in total (on the first page), and one or more (sometimes it is about three or more) of them are invalid (for whatever reason, but 100% invalid), all people that are above one or more of those ads are paying more then they should. Multiplying an average number of such situations since “one display URL at the time” kicked in (two and half years ago) with number of those days until today, and then multiplying that with some kind of index that would show how much money all advertisers have paid over the realistic price (without those invalid ads)…

What do you think the amount of money is across the board for all of that time?

How much you think Google AdWords owns to all of us based on the fact that some invalid ads are there for days, weeks, months… anything that is over 48 hours?

A lot more than you think.

This is something that all are still to hear about.
