Why Can't We Search For Just "Inactive" Keywords?

I don't know about everyone else but it is annoying to me that the "advanced search" tool does not have the option to search for only "active" or only "inactive" keywords.

Instead they are combined as "active and inactive for search"

Why can't we search for one or the other in order to easliy find inactive keywords? Yes, I can run a report but still why not have this as an option with the advanced search tool?

Even more frustrating is when you do perform an advanced search every column in the results are sortable....EXCEPT the "status" column!

So not only can we not search for inactive keywords alone we can't sort them to the top of the list by sorting the columns in the results.

Sorry for the rant but it is sooo frustrating to me.

Am I the only one?

free download [google.com...]

You can use adwords editor to sort through inactive keywords and make your changes much faster.

In the Adwords Editor you can also make inactive keywords active by setting them in bulk to the suggested CPC to stay in the active status. There is also a bid max feature so you do not end up with $6 bids.

Thanks guys! I feel like an idiot since I use Adwords Editor but learned something in the process :-)

Seriously, thanks. This will eliminate something that has always frustrated me.

Now...if anyone knows a way to get an email alert when a keyword goes inactive....

I'm also a fan of pulling a keyword report with minimum bids and then sorting highest to lowest to see if there are any trends creeping up in the account.

Jkwilson,

Be careful what you ask for......

There have been updates over the years where at least for me getting an email whenever "a keyword" goes inactive would have filled a 1GB mailbox ;)

There have been some algo changes where it appears a word in a phrase suddenly triggers a huge bid increase. "He's selling gold painted widgets, why 'gold' is a $10.00 USD keyword!"

--------

Still, Google, why eliminate the feature from "Tools"? I can clearly see how many "active and inactive" keywords I have right in front of me. It was isolating the "Inactive" and perhaps deleting/upping bids them that was regularly useful. They could have just added the "Paused" search.

Funny how I came into the forum tonight to open a thread on this same topic.....

------

Is this just all a push to get us to use the editor and not do work we pay handsomely for on their bandwidth?
