I am currently helping to manage a PPC acct. for someone else in the biz. In essence I am subcontracted to perform various tasks within the campign, per a predefined action plan and timeline.

Here comes my conundrum, This is for a very reputable tech firm.. Now, I see many of the things I'm asked to do as actually counterproductive. Down to the general strategy, before I go in guerrilla style and confront my client with my data, I want to get a few these strategies...

1) Daily bid updates for the sole purpose of maintaining kw's within a predefined position tier( ex: Tier3. Note: position tiers are based on avg, position thru out all time - what is the point of this, other than to keep a position stagnant? the tiers are not based on best performing positions for that particular keyword.. Can someone explain the reasoning behind doing this...

not only is it in my opinion almost pointless, but this pointless task takes me up to 2 hours a day.

2) So If in fact, and defying logic and reason I have to push these tiers onto the keywords, then I ask from personal experience which bid mgmt. software would you recommend.. I used GoToast back in the day, but I hear there are more robust and practical solutions.

Thanks in advance!

Why not just use Position Preference? It's in the campaign settings.
