Hi guys,

couldn't find a separate google analytics user forum so here goes:

In the navigation section of the analytics report for my site, the majority of the entrance and exit points (clicks to and from) are the same as the page being looked at.

It's prob something really obvious, but why would the majority of clicks to or from the page be registered as to or from itself?
There obv. aren't loads of links to the page from itself.

Is it just refreshes?

Any ideas welcome -

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to forum81, jikkie. ;)

Any ideas welcome...

I've checked with a colleague how is deeply involved with Google Analytics, and he has replied as follows:

Clicks and referrals from the same website that you're on only mean that not every page is tagged --> an untagged page is linking to a tagged page, and therefore being counted as a referral.

I'd advise them to triple check that *every* page on their site is tagged.

Hope that helps.

Hi AWA,

(sorry for long delay - been on holiday without internet!)

thanks for that - would this be the case when the referral appears to come from not just the same site but the same page itself?

e.g. if i am looking at navigation stats for page www.mysite.com/jikkie

25 clicks are from www.mysite.com/jikkie (same page)
10 clicks are from www.mysite.com/other
5 clicks are from www.mysite.com/frontpage

So I know that page www.mysite.com/jikkie is tagged, as analytics is picking up the stats and recognises the page, however the majority of people are entering the page from the page...? This is the same for the exit clicks as well - majority of people exiting the page to the page.

Really confusing!

Thanks again :)
