Over the past several weeks I have been trying to weave my way through the Adwords maze and at the same time do some analysis on my program.

I'm in a very competitive field, and get some generic traffic, but I would like to boost my income.

1 - I used the Adwords keyword genberator tool and identified about 200 key phrases. Basically, I picked only the phrases where the "search" bar (graph) showed much more than the "competition" bar. Most of the key phrases are 3 and 4 words.

I realize that many of these phrases will have very low traffic, but I suppose that's okay.

2 - I think I can write good ads, but ..

I plan on directing each individual ad to an appropriate landing page. Each landing page has a detailed description and a series of short user reviews for one 'widget. So that part of my quality score should be okay? .. I hope. :)

My $$$ analysis (per item revenue is calculated from the past 13 months sales) shows an estimated break-even point that assumes $ 0.23 clicks and a conversion rate of 1%. (There is, however, a gray area; since a conversion $ amount varies with different products)

So basically, I figure to start out trying to get much cheaper CPC (somewhere around $ 0.06 - $ 0.10) and trying to convert at a higher rate.

My "ROI" (income/cost) at $ 0.15 and 2% conversion theoretically jumps to 297%.

I have no idea how many clicks I can get on the phrases, but I suppose only testing will show that.

One question I have is based on the nature of my market. The first 2 weeks of the month are when business is good. The reason is beyond my control. So I'm wondering if I can turn on/off a campaign day by day?

Also, if any of you experienced pros out there would be willing to comment either positively or negatively on my plan, I would really appreciate it.

Also what have I not yet considered that I should be looking at?

In Campaign settings, you have "Ad scheduling" that allows you to specify the time when you want your campaign to run.
Your plan sounds ok, and only testing will tell what will happen

If your niche is pretty competitive and you are just starting out, consider using bids that are higher than you will settle into. The reason is the higher ad position will tend to lean to a higher CTR. With a higher CTR your quality score will be a little better and you will have to pay less for the position you want to maintain. With all that said, consider higher bids in the beginning as a long-term investment. It's more cost effective to dial your bids down than dialing them up.
