I started a campaign in a new niche and am seeing messages in the ad diagnostics tool that I don't understand and don't recall having seen before.
" The keyword phrase you've entered has a low search volume and isn't showing any of your ads.
If more users start searching for your keyword, your ad will begin to show. You don't need to do anything."
Can't say I have seen that one before. I have always played kind of long tail and had always thought even if a word wasn't searched very frequently that my ad would appear when it was searched. This seems to indicate that the phrase needs to get searched more often before my ad is even triggered. From MSN and Yahoo research, I know people search for this term.... just not frequently which means my ad will never show for it unless I am buying a broader word.
Also have keywords that are showing as "Great" in the Quality Score Column, minimum bid 4 cents... my bid is 50 cents and get this message:
" This keyword isn't showing ads
This keyword isn't performing well enough to show your ads"
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm VERY familiar with this message... just not on keywords with a quality score of GREAT.
" The keyword phrase you've entered has a low search volume and isn't showing any of your ads.
If more users start searching for your keyword, your ad will begin to show. You don't need to do anything."
When keywords don't receive any traffic, they are often disabled on the backend. This doesn't go for seasonality type keywords, mostly when you do a lot of mixing and matching of words and end up with a lot of 4-5+ word combos is when this applies. Unfortunately, there's not an easy way to find these keywords.
my ctr on these types of terms, where G doesn't clasify them as low volume, exceeds 50%.
