"Your ads slowed down!" (third time)

How can I take action to restore the ads?

When I login to my account in G adwords, I get the following message.

"Your account contains underperforming keywords that are slowing the delivery of your ads. Please take steps to improve your keywords and/or ads, then click the Restore Full Delivery button below to restore ad delivery across your entire account."

This is the third time I am getting this in a row. This means that I will be charged $5, if I click on "Restore Full Delivery" button.

I am almost one year old in G adwords and never had this problem till now. What should I do?

I have thousands of ads. I cannot check each and every ads and find out the keywords that are giving the problem and delete them. There should be a much easier way. I have lost two days so far.

I have sent a mail to G adwords yesterday. They haven't replied back yet. Can anybody help me out in this regard?

I need to restore the ads back and avoid this type of problem in the future.

Any help appreciated!

Is the keyword too general for a niche product? I have a general keyword that is very important to me, and I have an excellent ad for a very narrow niche. Conversions are high, but CTR is low. Good for me, but bad for Google, so they cut me off. I countered by using the general keyword combined with a number of narrower keywords. This provides more targeting (good for Google), and diversifies my keywords (good for me).

For "thousands of ads" management is another issue.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, christi_me! I suspect you'll pick up a ton of valuable info on this Forum.

I wonder if you have added a large number of really general keywords recently? If not, then most likely your account has been running on the ragged edge of being 'slowed' all along - because the program will consider the entire history of an account, to prevent it from being slowed on the basis of poor performance over a short period of time.

I have thousands of ads. I cannot check each and every ads and find out the keywords that are giving the problem and delete them. There should be a much easier way. I have lost two days so far.

I hate to say it, but most likely this is a case where you will have to 'do the work' to find out what keywords/ads are causing the problems. One tool that may save you a lot of time is the 'Report' function that allows you to run a wide range of reports regarding your account. For instance you could ask the system to run a report that shows you all 'disabled' or 'slowed' keywords in a given campaign, or in the entire account. This function should allow you to more quickly identify problem areas.

Look for the Reports tab, near the top of every page in your account.

I need to restore the ads back and avoid this type of problem in the future.

IMO, the trick to never having your account slowed again rests in being as targeted as possible - and avoiding very general keywords - throughout your thousands of ads. Be aware the CTR standard required to avoid being slowed is not particularly high, being less than half of the average CTR.

I found out today that removing a couple of campaigns can disrupt the balance to the rest of the campaigns thus slowing your account.

andla, this sounds pretty odd - and may simply be a coincidence. I guess I can imagine this happening if your entire account has been running on the edge of getting slowed, and if you were to then delete the more 'successful' campaigns.

BTW, I'm working on a more comprehensive answer to you questions in other threads, and will get that posted later in the day.

You get charged the activation fee if you have to activate for the 3rd time (2 times activation is free). By then you should have figured out how it works.
