Could you help me out on in creating a checklist on imp. factors considered for Google Analytics?
( If there is any thread , please provide the link, i m not able to find )
I can use the left hand side menu links on the GA interface but need a short and reliable solution.
The purpose is to create a standard for comparing all my sites.
Any pointers will help.
Thanks for your Time

How do you want to use the data that you gleen from your sites stats?
It's important to note..that you can use any number of different views from your stats to better understand what is happening with your site...or to plan on new web projects as you begin to understand the dynamics of how a user segment interacts with the web...I am simply showing you the tip of the iceburg here...you really need to spend some considerable time getting to know all the data being generated by your site...
If you want to improve the usability (humans) of your site(s)...then you will need to understand the dynamics of how people are finding your site and moving through your site...
So you will want to work the following sequences:
Dashboard => Webmaster View
Webmaster View => Content Summary
This data will show your page entrance and bounce rates...which will tell you when the traffic hitting your page what the percentage of bounces are occuring...(whatever page ... could be a landing page you have set up for PPC or your main root home page or an interior page that is garnering organic traffic from the SERPs or through link relationships...)
If you have a high bounce rate then either the wrong traffic is hitting your site...or...your site's usability needs some work..
Dashboard => Webmaster View
Webmaster View => Marketing Optimization
Marketing Optimization => Unique Vistor Tracking => Visits & Page View Tracking
This data will clue you into how traffic is moving through your site..and you will be better able to adjust your usability factors (navigation, text, graphics..etc..) to have your site visitors better react and interact with your site...
Dashboard => Webmaster View
Webmaster View => Marketing Optimization
Marketing Optimization => Visitor Segment Performance => Referring Source
This data will help you to see where your traffic is originating from...and clue you into how to better source your traffic...
Now use the Date Range tool and click on the Months right below the Year 2007 to see monthly stats for any analytic view sequence you choose to move through...
Using stats is really all about what you want to achieve with your site...(adsense clicks, direct sales, memberships, subscriptions, advertising...etc...etc..)..
So you need to learn to think of your stats as a valuable tool for making strategic decisions...
Personally, I think it is one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of working the web...
