Do you guys find it's better to bid high and try to get only high converters to click on your ad, or bid low and try to get everybody to click?

Just because you bid high doesnt mean it would convert better. If you know that a certain position gets you conversions and your able to make a substantial profit at that position I would say to stay there. There is no purpose in just getting more traffic for traffics sake.

Just bidding high on keywords will not give you conversions. You have to bid on all possible keywords and find which ones are profitable for you and bid on them. OR Bid high on keywords having high competition and use low bid keywords(which convert occasionally) and bring down the overall Cost per conversion. To do this effectively you must have large number of low bid keywords.

I agree totally... By bidding high it doesn't mean you will get conversions always... sometimes being on top 3 leads to more impressions... The main concept is the relevancy of your ad copy...
If your ad copy is relevant than you will get good CTR and so you will get a low cost per click...
