Effect of pausing keyword on content network

Will pausing remove keyword for content consideration?

As I'm managing a new client's account who wishes to have content enabled, something occurred to me which I am trying to find the answer to.

The client has a lot of broad match keywords which I believe is increasing his number of impressions on the content network. Many are way too broad.

I'm positive that deleting a keyword will also remove it being considered for the content network.

Example:

widget

Pages about red widgets, blue widgets will trigger the ad. But client really sells only green widgets. So deleting the broad keyword widget should not display his ad anywhere. Makes sense.

But what about pausing the broad keyword? We know it won't trigger ads in the search network. But will it still be triggered on the content?

I can't find the answer to this in AdWords help and was wondering if anyone knew for sure or have experience pointing to the answer. I'm guessing (more like hoping) that pausing the keyword will not trigger ads in the content.

i would think if the keyword is paused it will be paused for both search and content.

LucidSW, being only 99.2% sure, I double checked with the right folks and can confirm that paused keywords are not used in content targeting.
