Can a .com & a .net appear on the same adwords keyword?

I am doing work for a client with a .net domain. He wants to bid on a keyword that has the exact same domain as a .com

For example

widgets.com
widgets.net

They are completely different websites. Would this be allowed by Google?

This should not be a problem as long as they are different sites and are not owned by the same entity.

But dont use same keywords in one account ... even if with different campaigns.

If you wanna use same keywods for both than try making two accounts.

It is my understanding that if if your client owns both domain names, and is planning on bidding on the same keywords for both domains, that only one will show at any given time. If you were to create two different accounts for this client - with the intent of both adverts displaying at the same time for that keyword, then you are in breach of TOS. This could put the whole of your clients account at risk of termination. Also if you have MSA account - it could put your account at risk also.

In order to avaoid this. You could place the overlapping keywords in one adgroup with two different adverts - one going to the .net, and the other going to the .com. If you select to show the adverts in even rotation in the settings they will get equal exposure.

Not worth risking a ban IMHO.
