I recently started with them. I am happy with the impressions but wonder what's a good click through rate. For example, one day I had 175 clicks on 10,691 impressions for a 1.6% CTR. Cost $14.76 with 1.6 placement. No "business" yet from new visitors but will be patient.

Are those decent numbers? Thanks.

It all depends on your industry, KW set, website, title & descrition. There is no general rule. We have ads running that bring 10%+ CTR. That doesn't mean that we are doing something better than you. We sell different STUFF.

It depends on what you're measuring against, as well. For instance, those banner ads on some of the Big News Sites are contracted to run a million impressions per month/or quarter and the ctr on those are around .01. Sometimes zero. Not often anything close to 1.6.

Measured under that light, 1.6 is a better performance per dollar spent.

Of course, the ultimate measure is ROI. You should closely track your sales, and if possible, where your customers heard of you.

ROI is the ultimate measurement of what is a good CTR.

I would rather have highly targeted ads that get really low click throughs, but wind up to be great converters! That means more money to you and less to them (google). What are you selling that you have had no results from adwords yet?

What are you selling that you have had no results from adwords yet?

That kind of information is personal, and is irrelevant to the general discussion.

It's important sometimes to keep the information general, to not be specific, that way it helps a greater amount of people, while still resolving a specific query. :)

If there is a point when you absolutely need to be specific, many folks here say that they sell Luxury Widgets, or Sports Widgets. It's still general and helps a greater amount of people.

The point of the discussion is CTR, and what is a good percentage.
