Someones site I am working on (I am new to seo) happens to have his personal name on every page since he is selling himself. It is also in the footer of every page.

Why then does the minimium bid for his name keep going up? No one else is using it to advertise.

This is a pain in the rear.

Thanks for the ino

If google has history of very few searches for the name then they often hike up the price. The 'long-tail' keywords hardly work anymore.

Long ago I work very hard to have keywords that got searched for maybe once a week. Maybe a click a month. I'd much prefer 10000 clicks per month from 10000 keywords than 10000 clicks from one keyword.

Times have changed and so has Adwords and it is getting worse every day for a lot of us.

ps. why on earth would someone be using keywords for their name unless they are an author or entertainer. Is that the case?

There is a difference between a keyword appearing on a page and a page providing valuable information about the keyword.

Maybe the bot sees this as a random, worthless use of the "keyword".
Maybe a better QS would be achieved if the name was mentioned within a heading and a paragraph about the person.
