Amazing similarities to last week’s “not the” quality score update.

I'm noticing similar behavior with the official update as last week's update that had nothing to do with the official update. Plural keywords going inactive while singular versions holding at "great" and vice-versa. The major difference I see from last week is that the minimum bids are not jumping as drastically, 10 - 30 cents instead of 5 - 10 dollars.

We are seeing this too

[green widget] 3.5% Great
[green widgets] 3.6% Poor

No other differences - landing pages optimized.

That is very odd.

Also seeing more specific keywords falling to broader terms:

"widgets" (great .02)
"green widgets" (ok .20)
"long green widgets" (poor .50)

Starting to notice a pattern here I think.

us too. We spent an age going broader to try and get more relevance...instead we seem to have been penalised there.

Makes sense from G's point of view. Their is no competition on long tail terms. If they heard everyone towards more general terms, more money is made as competition heats up. Of course this the opposite of what they wanted when the QS was introduced.

Are you building separate landing pages for each of the phrases above, or are you pointing both keyword phrases to the same landing page?

Can’t speak for anyone else, but no we do not create separate landing pages for plural and singular keywords.
