Hello,

I was doing some research for a campaign i would like to set up and got a little confused.

I found out(whois)that there where two advertisers with both three campaigns on the same keyword, at the same time.

Is it ok to run multiple campains on the same keyword?
According to the TOS it isn't....

Does anybody have an idea what i can do?
I really want to advertise on these keywords, but not with this kind of competition.

Fayco.

They aren't allowed to do this. Call a Google rep and report them. With any luck they'll get banned and you don't have to worry about competition so much.

You are allowed to do it as long as the offering is different.

e.g.

Keyword: Blue Widgets

Site 1: Sells Blue Widgets
Site 2: Compares company that sell Blue Widgets
Site 3: Auctions Widgets

All the site are essentially different, you could have as many sites in as you like as long as they are not all the same..

Thanks for your replies.

The websites i mentioned are exactly the same, with different titles.
I cannot call a rep since i do not have an account yet.
(i want to do everything the right way the first time to avoid problems.)

As soon as i have an account i will contact google, and tell them about this unfair competition.

You can still report violations as a normal member of the public by clicking on the 'Ads by Google' link on the ads and looking down the page for the 'tell us what you thought about these ads' stuff.

G absolutely DOES NOT have to act on any one report you send, but making the report gives them more data points to act on.

Just last week we had success reporting a competitor. They were sending the same word to the same site but just using different display url. Don't give up hope. We submitted complaint at bottom of results page and called our Google rep 2x.

How can they send users to the same site but use a different display URL? Google detects incorrect display URLs automatically.

Google detects incorrect display URLs automatically.

I've seen enough gross violations of this rule to know they don't. There are also complications involved with automatically checking - it wouldn't be able to accomodate for third-party tracking URLs.
