I heard from one of my webmaster friend that it is more profitable to run Ads on Overture than Adword if I am into selling some knd of products and not information...

He also told me that Google is rather an information protal, while Yahoo! is more business oriented. Commercial visitors know this, and therefore, I should decrease my Adword budget and proportionately increase budget on Overture.

I am in a fix... An advice will be great.

The only way to find out is to try it. Providing you track it properly, you'll quickly discover what's most profitable and you can allocate budget appropriately.

I'm not sure that I agree with what your webmaster friend told you, but the beauty of PPC is that you can test ads easily and relatively cheaply.

I would say that Google users have a more business/technical profile than Yahoo. You should test each one carefully. Some of my campaigns (mostly B2B) work better on Google, some work better on Yahoo.

Is there a definite way to forecast a trend here? Or, it's simply hit and try?

It is usually trial and error.

I get a lower CPC on Yahoo and often a better conversion rate, depending on the type of Yahoo partner sites the ads are shown on. However, I often feel that the quality of leads generated from Yahoo is not as good as those ones from Google users.

One school of thought has it that, assuming you are making a profit from your ads in each system, it is to your advantage to do so. And that (again, assuming you are making a profit) increasing your budget in each place means you are making more profit - while reaching different audiences that you othewise would not reach by using only one system.
