Has anyone noticed the new trffic estimater located under the tools menu?

So far when I've tried to use it it says it's currently unavailable.

Is it too much to hope that it is now more accurate?

Very cool. Its the same estimation as if you were to setup a campaign, so it just allows you to test the water first.

Very odd for G to make this public if such a state.

Wonder if they will make an API to interface with this tool?

I hope when this is fully implemented it works well, would make a lot of people happy.

So far, I'm only getting 'estimates are unavailable' - but this is one to keep a close eye on.

I've been playing with this tool for a while this morning, and it seems to estimate max necessary CPC too high - unless it's default CTR (which I don't see listed anywhere) for the entire equation is a bit low.

AWA - any ideas on the default settings for this tool?

Now you see it...

Now you don't...

Hope it's just gone for maintenance and that it's coming back...

Sorry I didn't get to this thread earlier, but I've had a severe case of "tasks multiplying to fill all available time" today. Far better to be too busy, though, than not busy enough, IMO!

So, anyway, here is a bit of info about what I have come to think of as the 'Stand-alone' Traffic Estimator.

Now you see it... Now you don't... Hope it's just gone for maintenance and that it's coming back...

Well, as noted in earlier posts, there were a few wrinkles to iron out. So they are being ironed. While I'm not certain of the timing, I am certain that the tool will be back.

The intent behind Stand-alone version of the Traffic Estimator is to make it much more easily accessible (in that one may go directly to the tool, rather than accessing it by 'adding keywords' to an existing Ad Group, or by going through the ad creation process. However, as I understand it, at this stage the tool itself will be the same.

As I've said before, work is always underway to make the tool more useful and accurate, and this is still the case.

Wonder if they will make an API to interface with this tool?

Although I can't really comment on future developments, I'll certainly pass this feedback on this evening, as a desirable feature.

what would be nice is to enter a term and a baseline cpc, then have it estimate number of clicks at the baseline and plus/minus 10%, plus/minus 20%.

obviously you can mimic this information by going back-and-forth, but this should be the default behavior. As an advertisor I want to know what marginal clicks are going to cost me.

And you can export as CSV! No more messy copying and pasting. Good find.

I like the tool (and the CSV export) but could use the keyword tool that would then be launched from the traffic estimator result page with all the right settings (like at ad group level). This way you can easily expand keyword listings

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions, which I'll pass on later in the week. ;)
