Conversion Suddenly Tanking in the PM

A recent Adwords traffic phenom. Seen it?

The past few days, I've noticed that conversion on one of my campaigns completely tanks at around 4PM EST. Clicks keep rolling in, but sales slow to a crawl.

I've been running this campaign for a long time and conversion has historically been steady throughout the day. I've been checking the results on Search and the competitors still look the same.

Is it possible that Google is running me on less relevant/effective partner sites later in the day and giving the better traffic to my competitors? I can see how, from a revenue maximizing standpoint, it makes sense for G to "even-out" conversions among competitors, i.e. send the better converters a little trash and send the dogs a little meat to get everyone closer to breakeven, but I never had reason to suspect it prior.

Any other ideas?

myspace traffic?

Hmmm...could be. 4PM EST, the kids could be getting home from school and logging on. I'll take a closer look.

I'm imagine if MySpace is putting this kind of dent in conversion during a specific time of day, others would be noticing it as well. Anyone else?
