Can I use 301 redirect to track adwords?

Hello,

Was thinking of using adwords to kickoff a new forum of mine.

To track how many people actually come from adwords in my stats, thinking of setting up a redirect like so:

301 redirect adwords.html /http://www.mysite/forums

Then in my stats, all the hits to "adwords.html" would indicate arrival to the site via adwords.

Good idea? Suggestions?

Fine, but you may want to use the 302 redirect (temp redirect). At least that is what we use.
