First I would like to say hello to everyone, glad to have joined the community.

And second where is the "Search Forum" link? I wanted to just search but couldn't find the link.

My question I wanted to search for is - I have about a dozen sites running and all have Adsense running, but I have not yet tried Adwords, I have seen both sides of the Adwords story and know it is always a gamble when investing, but I need some input on running Adwords for some of my affiliate sites.

Most of my sites have affiliate banners and text links, and I thought about maybe doing an Adwords campaign sending to a squeeze page for a selected affiliate along with one of their offers.

Is anyone doing this with any success?

Most of my homework seems to show its better to use affiliates that pay per lead, but maybe someone can shed more light on this.

Also if you are having any success how much profit per lead/sale/commission is necessary to make Adwords profitable?

Say I use an affiliate that pays $6 per lead/sale could this possible be productive.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to try and sum up without a lot of posts.

Thanks,
Jeff

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Jeff!

And second where is the "Search Forum" link? I wanted to just search but couldn't find the link.

It's labeled site search [webmasterworld.com] - to the right of the WebmasterWorld logo up top. When I joined, I had a hard time finding it too...

Also if you are having any success how much profit per lead/sale/commission is necessary to make Adwords profitable?

Really depends on the vertical - and your specific profit goals and risk tolerances. And, how good of a marketer you are! Based only on the bounty per lead, I'm not sure I'd buy any definitive answer you receive...

Thanks Poster_boy for the reply, I did find the search link while looking around the site.

I will do more homework on the whole Adwords campaigning.

I am hopeful that I could do some campaigns for my affiliates, but I was just hoping to see if I could get any more input from others that have tried the same.

Here's the best thread about adding custom site search to your interface:

Hi jnkwebdesignz

I'm not sure all of your post is that relevant to the AdWords forum, some of it relates more to the affiliate side of your business.

There are many factors that will affect how much your traffic from AdWords costs you. The Quality of your landing page and site, and their relevance to your Ad and the keywords you are bidding on, will affect where your Ad is ranked for a given bid.

The average cost per click that you need to achieve to be profitable, will of course depend not only on what you earn per action, but on the click through ratio your site can achieve. My view is that traffic obtained from AdWords converts extremely well compared to natural traffic - but that could just be my site.

Have a look at what Google Analytics can do for you to help you track return on investment.

PS Welcome to WebmasterWorld - IMHO one of the best two sites for Adsense and Adwords forums in the publisher-world. :)

eWhisper and pengi,

Thanks to both of you for your help, I think I may go ahead and try a low-budget Adwords campaign and see what happens, I have been following Scott Boulch on his "click-flipping" and did just order a book written by Perry Marshall (still waiting for it to arrive).
