Problems with Google Ads...

Looking for an answer

I've been using Google Ads for about 3 months now with few problems. Recently, my ads have been rejected with the reason, "Destination URL not working"

However, my site has been up the entire time. When I click on the heading for the ad inside the Google Adwords working area, it takes me right to my site.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas what I can do to solve the problem (other than editing my ads every hour)?

Thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, sdchoice! You'll learn a ton here, I assure you. (I have!)

But it is important to note the the disapproval is done by an actual human being who has not been able to get to your site.

Sdchoice, when your ads are reviewed, the reviewer will essentially click on your ad and go to your site (note: these clicks are filtered, and you don't pay for them!). If the reviewer finds that the URL is not working for some reason, your ad will be disapproved for "Destination URL not working".

But it is important to note that the disapproval was done by an actual human being who clicked on your ad, and was not able to get to your site.

In my experience, the most common causes of this are:

* A typo in the Destination URL field of the Ad Group. (All it takes is the tiniest error, to create a 'broken' URL, and this is the most common reason for disapproval, by far.)

* The linked-to site was down when our reviewer clicked on your ad

Since it sounds as if you've clicked on your actual ad, and the URL worked, it may be the second case - or some other issue. In any case, though, your best 'next step' would probably to be reply to the disapproval email and ask for the ads to be reviewed again (after having checked that the URL is in fact 100% correct).

(BTW, since you are new to the Forum, I should probably mention that I work at AdWords, and have posted here for the past year or so with the kind permission of the site owner and Moderators.)

Should I be getting an email each time there's disapproval or just notification inside of adwords?

I've left about 9 "requests" through adwords web page over the past few weeks, but no one has ever responded.

Thanks for your thoughts.

sdchoice, this sounds an awful lot as if your emails from us are getting blocked by your spam filters.

Firstly, yes, when an ad is disapproved you should certainly get an email. Ordinarily, one is sent out within moments of the ad being disapproved.

And, secondly, 9 emails to support over a period of weeks, without a response is very unusual.

So - I'd advised seeing if you have some filters in your email program that are preventing you from 'getting' our emails. This seems to happen with some frequency.

Here is a thread with some other useful tips on getting timely and effective support from AdWords. Please see post #3 here:
