Just participated in the Adwords Editor conference call training and got these 5 nuggets to start: (remember No More Bulk Sheets in January)

1) You MUST hit Get Recent Changes to update desktop. Editor does NOT update automatically upon launch which I thought it did.

2) Before you begin work, hit Export for Archiving so you can revert everything back the way it was when the client calls and says, "Nevermind."

3) You CAN add new Campaigns and Ad Groups along with new keywords. Text Ads for new Ad Groups must be added separately.

4) Advanced Search allows for same management and filtering as online interface.

5) Learn this stuff. Online management seems to getting slower every day as I wait longer and longer for screens to appear after I sort or move elsewhere.

Reading your post as I sit here for 1/2 hour waiting for an update to maybe work. 1/2 time it fails.

The slowest, most unreliable software on the planet.

(excluding microsoft products of course :)

I encouraged my Adwords rep to bring up the slow download/upload issues at the next feedback meeting which she perkily agreed to do. So we'll see.

indeed, this should be fixed. It takes ages to upload a few hundred keywords. I understand that there might be alot of bookkeeping functions going on in the adwords system when new keywords are coming in, but those should be done offline and transparent to the user. Keywords are just a few kilobytes of text and should upload in a flash.

To defend the Editor for a moment...

It's a very promising tool that I give leeway towards despite it's fairly obvious shortcomings being that it's still an early stage product. I'm sure more attention will be put against upgrading it now that bulk sheets are going extinct, but it's still completely innovative versus what other engines have offered.

(remember No More Bulk Sheets in January)

you mean we will lose the ability to paste in 2000 keywords at a time in Jan., or that will be the only way to go in the future.
