Are precise and less keywords better?

Im trying to figure out something to see if i should modify my campaign to a more precise set of keywords....

i have a campaign with about 6 Adgroups in it. Each adgroup has approx. 10-20 keywords. As with most campaigns, i have keywords that do very well with a CTR of or around 1.5% - 5%.

then i have those keywords that do 0.10% and lower.....mostly becuase my bids have me on page 2 in or around 10th - 12th position.
thus lowering my overall CTR.

Should i dump all teh keywords i can not compete with and focus on my big keywords...maybe narrowing my Adgroups down to about 5 keywords per group?....

If i do this, and my overall CTR increases, will i be rewarded by G in anyway? (i.e. lower CPC?"

any thoughs on this are greatly appreciated.

Imo this depends on the fact what you want with your clicks. Do they need to be converted? Then use a tracking program and see which keyword converts best, etc.
But if it is only for getting traffic, you might consider making very relevant adgroups with keywords that are highly relevant to each other. Google says they reward that... And yes, ctr is also a factor for the QS... But as always, only Google know exactly!
