Keywords "Inactive for search"

Like many of you(s), I've been hit with the never ending latest round of Google quality improvements. The question I want to pose here is I have a few keywords that have been marked "Inactive for search", yet I continue to receive traffic with these keywords. What is happening here? Is this the standard Google AdWords traffic, or some search partners traffic?

I suspect it is partner search.

It is possible that G gives those words a try once in a while just to see if things have improved. If they never tried them then nothing would change, ever.

No it's not content traffic.

"Temporarily inactive for search" has been around for at least a couple of years, and usually applies to KWs that have extremely low CTR, and/or are extremely rare for users to enter. It just has not been visible until the new "spyglass" feature, or unless you enter that particular keyword and no ad shows up one time or twice, then does the third time you enter the keyword. G does re-activate those keywords from time to time. And if they garner more frequent clicks, they may remain active.

If the keyword status clearly shows Inactive for Search instead of Active, that is another matter.

The keyword shows "Inactive for Search". The keyword has a good CTR, and is popular.
