Content Network VS Search Network

Hello all,

I'm a bit confused by these 2 things. Now, here's my problem. I have a campaign which I only choose to enable Content Network. Then, I was asked for my content bids. This one I understand. But, what I don't understand is, why I'm still being asked to fill in the "default bid"? (Default bid is for Search Network, right? and I didn't even enable the Search Network.. Why I still need to at least put an amount for default bid?)

I thought Content Network is not related to Search Network and default bid is related to Search Network, right? Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks.

Yep you are wrong. You still get to bid on position in the content network - otherwise all advertisers would be paying the same amount per click... - who would be in what position in advertising boxes? How would Goggle know which advertiser to show?....Suggest you go and read through Adwords help on content network bidding and how it works :)

Hi, thanks for your reply. In fact, I did read, it's just that I got confused. That's why I asked here.. Anyway, your answer does help me.. Thanks a lot.

But is the "default bid" that I mentioned earlier is the same "default bid" that you are saying in your reply? After reading and reading, it seems to me that the "default bid" needs to be there because regardless of which google network we choose, our ads will still appear in the Google Search result page..

Oh yes, it seems to me that this answer of yours is referring to "content bids" and NOT "default bids" that I was asking about earlier(Sorry if I've misunderstood your answer and someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this):

"You still get to bid on position in the content network - otherwise all advertisers would be paying the same amount per click... - who would be in what position in advertising boxes? How would Goggle know which advertiser to show?.... "

eaternbats:

The default bid does not play in content-only campaigns when you have content-bids enabled.
I have mine set to $10.00 per click just for fun! :)
