Google now wants $5 for ads that two days ago were costing us .04. I am still furious, but if we improve the landing page to Google's liking (who cares what our visitors think of it), how do we re-start the ads, without paying $5 per click, to see if the page now meets Google's approval? Do we just have to pay $5 per click and go broke waiting to see if the CPC will eventually drop?

Weeks to months- if ever.
Yep, it really is that bad.

Do you know that as a fact, or are you just guessing?

Heard back from AdWords, and yes indeed, it can take weeks or months for them to re-evaluate the landing pages. So there goes that. No more Adwords for us.

Yes.. Took 2 months for our e-commerce site to get back on, after last QS hit. We added Privacy policy/detailed contact details/Samples/some outgoing links to 'authority sites' etc and this QS update has marked our site up.
All non active Keywords are back on, after almost 2 months. Ofcourse in the meantime, we got many new sources of traffic so we need to rely a little less on adWords now. It was a blessing in a way as we got to explore a lot of other options.
