hi there,

we have reached the maximum number of campaigns in our account. asked google for more but they refused.

so now i need to move the adgroups and keywords between campaigns to get more space.

is there any way not to lose the quality score when moving the groups?

thanks

Your best bet is to move keywords which get few impressions, and leave the best preforming ones alone.

hi eWhisper,

I have just received the email confirming that my ads won't lose quality score if they are moved within one account.
i can sticky you with quotation from their email if you want.

The question isn't if the ads will lose quality score. Its will the keywords be affected. Technically, ads don't have QS, keywords do.

Just for everyone's clarification (I like to keep info on the board and not just in stickies so everyone can chime in and be privy to info) here's the paraphrased conversation I had with Google about this issue:

Essentially, when one moves a keyword within an account to a different ad group, it does keep a lot of the keyword quality.

However, a keyword in a new adgroup is treated as a new keyword for part of the algo. This is due to it being in a new adgroup, possibly a different campaign (and thus different settings), different ad copy, etc. So, while part of the keyword QS is utilized, the QS is not transfered in its entirety. It also builds up CTR (a major part of the QS formula) within the new ad group, and this can also play a part on how successful a keyword is moved.

Overall, I've seen keywords pick up speed pretty quickly after being moved. However, in some very competitive industries, I've seen the keyword need to be forced through with a bit higher bid to get that traction as well.

Hence, I always recommend moving the lower preforming keywords and not the preforming ones for 'just in case' scenarios.

Ewhisper is right - I have moved whole adgroups t different campaigns, and can confirm it did have an impact on the keywords - some of which never quite seemed to recover, others out-performed themselves. So be very careful. Another way of doing it is to create the new adgroups and run them both at the same time. Once the new one isperforming as you would expect, delete the old one.
