i am taking over some AdWords accounts and am fairly new...SO...

Should i be putting my company name in the Keywords list?

If you type our company name in Google, we 100% of the time, come up #1....so should i be wasting money and clicks with Ads in Google or MSN?

It seems to me that if they are directly typing my company name in the search box, then there would be no need for an advertisement considering we come up #1....

any ideas on this?

Is anyone else bidding on your company name?

If so they might be coming up in the sponsored position above the No1 SERP slot.

If no one is bidding on your comapny name then there is probably no reason to include that keyword.

When i type our company name, i see our advertisement on top, the only one.

Then i see 3 more on the right hand side from Ebay, BuyerZone.com and FindAccountingSoftware.com...

does that mean they are using my company name in their AdGroups to bid on?

And...if i remove my company name in my Keywords, will they take the #1 spot on top?

thanks

That's just some affiliate using the dynamic keyword thingie.

If that is all there is then I would dump the company name as a keyword if it is costing you a lot of money. Keep your eye on it tho because things change pretty rapidly. You may want to just pause that keyword until you need to switch it on again or if you notice a drop in traffic and sales as a result of pausing it.

You know this already I'm sure ;oP

Hi Tony,

My company web site also comes up first when I type our name into Google, but I still have PPC ads running on all our branded keyword terms to highlight specific items or sales that I want to promote for a certain period of time. So for example, your organic listing might say:

"ABC Company is the leading manufacturer of widgets in the world ...
(and so on)"

and your PPC ad could say:

"Save up to 75% on our
X widget. Free shipping."

Hope this helps.

I also usually run ads on the various company names - for one thing, competitors can run ads on your name, and so it's probably good to be up there. Also, if you are opted into Search and/or Content, you might want to show up for your name in AdWords where you wouldn't necessarily show in organics.

Also you should have a very good CTR which will block competitors ads from appearing above yours. And if they do want top spot...at least you'll make them pay for it.
