Why does city/state/region appear in regional ads?

I've had some ads up on AdWords for several months, and I've noticed that the city, state or region name appears below the URL. It seems to appear in both FF and IE on both Windows and Macs.
1. Is this a bug? 2. If not, is there a way to turn it off?
Thanks, Matt

This is a function of using a location targeting option within your campaign settings of smaller than a country.
It helps searchers see when an advertiser is a regional advertiser and not a national one.
There's not a way to turn it off except for changing your campaign settings to the 'countries and territories' option.
