Just noticed that a major American company that sells spinach (and many other products) has an ad campaign going for keywords related to the E. Coli spinach outbreak. The ad just says to click for more information about their spinach. The click takes you to the company site, where you can read their updated official statement on what they're doing.

Boy, talk about online advertising coming a long way. I'm mildly amazed that such a large (and what I would have characterized as "stodgy") company (4 letters, think pineapple) is so nimble as to a) use AdWords for a PR crisis and b) respond so quickly.

It is interesting but could save the company , It's a major news story and I suspect it's their way of counteracting news stories showing their brand on morning and evening news and talking about death and major health issues, The public will look at the brand and even if only a spinach problem the brand could be badly tainted , maybe very sharp to target e-coli as that is where many searchers will be doing research to decide if only single product or a tainted brand,

From a pure consumer perspective I suspect many will just stay clear of the Brand for some time or those type of packaged product.
