Paying someone to run PPC campaign

How does it typically work?

From time to time I see people in this forum mention clients, so I'm assuming some of you are being paid to run PPC campaigns for others.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how that process typically works?

If I wanted to pay someone to run a campaign for me, do they typically charge based on a percentage of the total budget or some formula that takes results/performance into consideration?

Also, how do I find a few of these PPC managers to evaluate and select one?

Thanks,

Different people charge in different ways. A recent thread in this forum put the case for a percentage vs billing by the hour; each has pros and cons.

This site [whoisagap.com] will help you find a Google AdWords Professional in your area.

I have recently taken on an Adwords account. I get paid a percentage of their commissions resulting from the Adwords advertising. I have read recently that someone suggested not charging less than $300 per month to manage an adwords account. I guess there are many different options - its down to you to decide how much you can afford and what is the best method of paying.

Thanks. Is there a way to search that site to find people located near me?

Think that site only drills down as far as country. Try this search [google.co.uk] on Google, replacing 'London' with your area.

Good question, and once you decide to hire an agency to manage your PPC campaign, what criteria would you use to determine their capabilities? I'm assuming your BtoB?

One option to consider, farmboy: go to your favorite search engine (well, I guess I should say my favorite search engine, the first initial of which is G) and try a search like this:

google advertising professional your city, your state

Then look to see if there is a link that'll say something like:

Local results for google advertising professional near your city, your state

Click on that link and see what you see on the map. Kinda fun actually. ;)
