setting minimum bid

I'm using Budget Optimizer and am generally happy with the results.

But when I create a new campaign, it seems to have a mind of its own - I have set the max per click bid at .75 but it seems to default to .01 or .06 and then it says "keywords inactive" and asks me to raise my minimum bid.

Is there a work around - or is the system just "figuring things out", or is it broken?

No workaround that I know of. For the most part, I don't use the budget optimizer except for campaigns that the client wants to just let run on auto pilot.

This is very helpful.

how about when I put in a tracking url into when I design the adv and then when I go to look at "keyword settings" the URL isn't there...

this happens both when using BO and not.

Is this broken or am I not doing something right?

They should rename the Budget Optimizer to Budget Spender, as that is its goal. Calling it B.O. might be reflective of its true nature as well. If you're focused on ROI, you need to turn this feature off. If you seek branding over ROI or are in the government (where not spending your full budget results in smaller budgets next time), then set it to burn by leaving the B.O. turned on.

Hi,

For small/simple campaigns I find BO (what a name!) to be OK, though I wish it could optimise for number of conversions rather than clicks...

Didn't see this till now, but yes. I've just included a couple of quotes from this thread in the Advertiser Feedback Report, including yours. ;)
