Next day, Adwords reports 33 clicks and my tracking program none, zero, nada. Wahooo, what the .... is going on?
Doubting the tracking, I downloaded the raw logs, same.
After contacting Google with the usual non result, I looked everywere including this site that had a year 2002 thread with the same unsolved problem, no luck.
The answer in my case was that my index page is a .shtml as in:
http://www.example.com/index.shtml
I entered the above line into the "Destination URL" of the Adword campaign and now I get 1 visit for each click :)
This may be only one answer to different problems on the same subject. It may solve your problem or give you a hint considering the dumbness of some parts of the Google code.
Because the conclusion is scary at best: The top search engine that is cornering most of the Internet market uses crappy code. But that's another chapter lol
