I just received a phone call from Google, asking if I wanted to use Adwords. Telesales doesn't seem very google-like to me. I just thought this is an interesting sign of how Google are changing.

The telephone is just another tool in the toolbox. If Google wants to compete with other media and rep firms, it makes sense to hire reps who know how to use the telephone--especially in today's spamophobic e-mail climate.

Mind you, I hate getting telemarketing calls myself. :-)

Do you know how they found your phone number? Or maybe you already used AdWords in the past and they called you to see if you wanted to use it again?

Seems strange that they are actually making calls to acquire new customers when then are pushing advertisers out the door at an incredible pace. Sounds like a PR thing to make it look like they want new customers. Either that or it's a classic case of one department not communicating with another department.
