Avoiding Showing Ads on Google Maps?

Anyone have a tip for not having your ads shown on Google Maps?

This is not SEARCH so I don't want the junk traffic from this.... all these impressions distort your "REAL" campaign SEARCH IMPRESSIONS

Never thought of that.

If you have, say, an online/mailorder business that happens to be located in Manhattan, you might incur quite a significant amount of "junk" traffic that you have no interest in.

They have been doing this for a long time with MapQuest - tons of impressions - no quality clicks at all. Just lots and lots of noise helping to drive your CTR down :(

ajwebmaster, are'nt CTR stats on the content and search networks not taken into consideration by Google as far as ones quality score is concerned.

that's what my rep said too ... who really knows anymore.....

my bigger concern is that it blurs my ability to see what the REAL SEARCHES for a keyword are... this guy has pulled up a map for Texas show him "Texas widgets" that is not search for that keyword, that is a stab in the dark ....

If someone looking for a hotel room or an intersection or is lost and needs directions and accesses an online map he/she is not a SEARCHER, IMHO. Neither is the desktop BS - these are PUSH ads not PULL

I simply want show my ads to people that have typed my keywords into a search box at G or some syndication partner(PULL traffic).

If the impressions aren't there then they aren't there but don't send me PUSH traffic in the same bucket and tell me my CTR is x% and my impressions are through the roof. It is just distorted data and doesn't help me split test or do other things that I am want to do to improve my SEARCH PPC ads targeted to people that are searching my keywords.

If the keyword traffic from REAL SEARCH dries up then fine, let me see the stats and I will get keywords or do something else. Instead of showing you the real traffic they just keep looking for sources of page views to PUSH my ads to people that don't care... The myspace deal will just make this worse and worse and worse....
