My staf always told me not to use the ROI system that is offered by Google AdWords, and now I am wishing I had listened to them

I just did an AdWords report on one of my best sites for all time and noted that all the keywords that I had made sales on had their minumum bids increased to massive levels

All the keywords I have never had a conversion on are all still active and running without issue

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, I have seen it too.

It's why I warn people to NEVER use Google's tracking. (I don't doubt it will become required soon)

But Google says it's "quality" score!

Yep. Sure.

Of all my sites, this hasnt happened every time - but it certainly happened enough to worry about Googles motivations

Don't beat yourself up over it. Probably doesn't make any difference. If they are using this information in this way, what would stop them from just using your competitor's information? Wouldn't be quite as accurate, but close enough.

Whether true or not, they've certainly set themselves up to make people suspect that this is a warm-up for cost-per-action. Make advertisers so disgusted with CPC that they will all go for CPA.

CPA is going to require giving Google even MORE information about your business.

Anyone who does that is just plain asking for whatever Google does to them.

Adwords is supposedly a public auction between advertisers. Then they throw in "quality" which has yet to be defined.

I believe it does not really exist in any way they claim it does. All I know is that all my campaigns along with everyone I know is paying more, more, more even when competitors drop out.
