Run out of Text Ad quota - That's new

Not keywords, Text Ads!

I think this may be a first, I've not seen this mentioned on WW before.

Whilst setting up a new campaign with 12,000 keywords and 1,000+ Text Ads (different creatives) we ran out of Text Ad quota!

It only seems to happen in the Desktop editor, when I add another manually it accepts the new advert (I'm half tempted to keep on going manually to see if the message appears - too time consuming though).

It seems that a couple of hundred text ads is the limit on a new account.

Incidentally, this is the first time we have tried so many advert wordings, mainly because we don't like the automated insertion and we needed to test reponse based on a few factors.

Anyone else had this problem? (I'll update this tommorrow when I speak to my rep - they'll probably up the quota but it's still a pain).

I'm a bit confused.. how do you intend to trigger a certain ad for a certain keyword?

The only way to do that is to create separate ad groups within the campaign, one group per creative.

So are you saying you have over 1,000 ad groups within this campaign? I've never had that many within one campaign, it seems you'd hit a group limit.

What he said. How do you plan on using 1000 creatives in the same adgroup? You are aware that you cannot assign keyword to specific ads right?

There are 30 ad groups (all relatively high traffic), we just wanted to try 30-40 variations of the copy for each ad group. We will be doing that over a period of time rather than all at once. The theory was if we ran ads for a few weeks we could cull the poorer perforing creatives and whittle them down over time to see what works the best.

All of the keywords in the groups are either the single/two word description of a service or that same description with geographical keywords tagged on.
