How are ads rotated with "optimize ads" off?

If i turn off "optimize" are 3 ads displayed equally?

Hi All :)

I'm getting better conversion rates with "Automatically optimize ads" turned off, as recommended in some great posts here (thank you, thank you!).

Probably this is because my ads that convert better were not being shown as often as those that get more clicks.

Now i'm trying a new ad (my first dynamic ad) and wondering if it gets equal exposure with "optimize ads" turned off. Just running searches, it looks like it does not, but it might take a lot of searches to be sure.

TIA...

With optimization turned off all ads should be disctributed evenly (so if you have 4, all show 25% of the time)

Hey,

What I don't understand is when I turn ad optimization off, and one ad still gets more than a 50% showing... (While running two ads).

What is up?

It appears to me that this setting is being ignored.

I've got ad optimization off as well. On one of my main ad groups, my three ads are showing:

47.5%
47.6%
4.9%

Lots of squirrely Google results since they put the new relevance stuff in. Hopefully it will settle back down seoon...

CernyM, that is probably because one of the three ads has not yet been approved for searches on Google's partner networks (AOL etc). There is currently no way to tell if an ad has been approved or not, other than by going to search.aol.com (or another partner search engine) and searching for your term yourself.. Once your ad been approved then you should see your traffic balance out evenly.

Ahh... I hadn't thought of that.

That makes some sense then as one of the ads is fairly new.

Thanks nerowolfe, makes good sense. Have the same situation here - 1 new dynamic ad and 2 much older static ones.

Also make sure you are looking at the right time period. I often make that mistake when I'm looking at longer periods. New ads may simply not have existed then, resulting in a low percentage for the new ad.

No doubt about it - with "optimization off" I've done well with several adds all showing equally - and then later found that the ads were being optimized.

A quick call to the Google CSR# indicated that yes indeed it was broken at their end. The suggestion was to turn it on and wait a while, then turn it off.

Yes, this worked once - but it doesnt' seem to work consistently.

Please Google - please fix this...

You've got to watch it like a hawk!
