Over the past hours, I received an e-mail from Google offering an Gmail account because I'm a valued AdWords advertiser. Clicked their link and set it up. Will be interesting to see how Gmail catches on.

Yup, seems like most single word handles are already gone.

Me too, wonder how many people they did this with?

I got one too and I've had all my campaigns on hold for about a month - hardly warrants me as a "valued AdWords customer" :)

3 digits a day spending pattern raises the invite. I have seen the same account get two invites to date.

Yeah, I got the invite today too. I don't think I'm going to need another personal email account so I just registered with gmail with the main adwords keyword that gets most of my sales. I figured even if I don't use it it'll stop someone else registering it.

I wonder how many webmasters would really use gmail though - surely email that goes to a public service like gmail isn't going to look as professional as email@mysite.

Where's mine? I've been waiting over two months for an account (hint hint)

I received mine today that also alludes to being an AdWords customer. Nice.

Wondering, how come no one complains these emails as UCE/spam :)

It's an opt-in on AdWords signup to receive invitations to participate in "Google Market Research". It can be turned off in the control panel as well.

Google mentions both of these points in addition to an unsubscribe link in the e-mail invitation. ;)

Heh, wonder how many folks will sign up for AdWords hoping for a GMail invite...

Got mine today...I'm glad to get a little lagniappe after all of the money that I've given adwords. I don't really intend to use it as a main account but it will be fun to play with, but more fun to tease all of the poeple that I know that want one.

P.S. I have been reading this forum for quite a while now (first post though) and want to thank everyone for all of the valuable information. This is one of the best resources on the web.

Hi,

I received that email about 1 month ago and signed up. At first I did not think I would ever use it but I did find a great use for it and all is working well.

Doh. I didn't get one. I wonder if they only sent to those who checked 'special offers' under preferences (I didn't have that one checked) or if they cross-referenced advertisers who requested info on the Gmail page.

Then again maybe I deleted the email by mistake :-(

Anyone have an invite they could send me?

We also received an invite and were able to register the name of our area - really neat! Tried my own name but couldn't get anywhere close.

Now I'll have to figure out a use for it. Too bad we can't download into Outlook Express. Or can we?

Too bad we can't download into Outlook Express.

Eeeeeek!

But seriously, the 'thread' format of gmail (which appears to me as one of its strengths) does not lend itself well to any other mail client I've used (but I guess we are now straying into the specific gmail forum's territory).

Got an invitation today too. Immediately signed up and sent an email to all the friends who care about Google. I seemed to get them water dripping down from their mouths. Cool!

Hey AWA - was this a result of my post in the supporters' forum a while ago suggesting this? (braggin' rights if it was :) ).

I just got mine too - thanks! This was a great idea by Google. Think I'll hurry out and register adwordsadvisor@gmail.com (j/k).

Actually, its possible. Look for a GMail to pop3 converter, you'll see a few of them around already.

Got mine on Monday, only thing that was available that I liked was firstname.lastname@Gmail.com. Still I like the service, and will be making it my main account for personal use. It's so much better than mail.com or hotmail.

Hey, my biggest account spends 4 digits a day, and I didn't get one! I'm upset. Maybe it's all that complaint e-mails I've sent to them recently about fraud.

I'm not really a Gmail insider, wheel, so I can't say for sure. But I'd guess that a roll-out to advertisers has long been part of the plan. ;)

However, since you suggested the idea in a public forum, I'd go ahead and brag anyway!

Hey, my biggest account spends 4 digits a day, and I didn't get one!

Secret Tip: Now that the roll-out to advertisers has started, I'd write from within my account requesting an invitation.

Hey Hob.... can I get an invitation? I'd be spending 3 digits on AdWords now if my bank account wasn't shot. :P

PM me if you're up for it. :)

GMail to pop3 converter

Thanks eWhisper.

I'd love to use it for some of our websites however I need to be able to keep all our business mail on my own computer.

Seriously, if anyone here has an invite they aren't using, feel free to send my way :)

I emailed account support and got a boiler plate referring me to the main Gmail page for more information.

PM if you have an invite you could send my way.
