IP Waviers

Google needs to implement something for management companies

A few of the accounts I manage stopped showing impressiosn yesterday. I started placing phone calls.

I was pretty certain the problem was multiple accounts coming from the same IP address - and sure enough it is.

This really becomes a problem when I'm traveling, I'll often check accounts from a dozen different IPs within a weeks time.

Last night I got a response of, 'it'll be cleared up by this evening.' However, the turnaround time of this 'investigation' is incredibly slow as its affecting a few companies - yet the entire response I got from Google was 'another team is handling this, and I'll make a note on the account'. Today, the response was, 'I can't give you a time frame.'

It seems Google should set up a system so legit management companies can apply for IP waviers for this issue - or set up a way to contact the management companies when something like this happens.

The other problem occuring is that they aren't calling me who could give them the reasons/accounts quickly as Google doesn't have seperate billing/contact info in their accounts.

I have no idea why its not affecting all the accounts, the fact its only affecting a few seems very strange.

It's Friday, and AWA's meeting day - and think this really needs to be addressed.

It's all about timing. Less than 5 minutes after my frustrated post (and still think G needs to do something about this), all the accounts started running again.

Short term, problem solved.
Long term, better way to resolve these issues.

The biggest future concern I have is traveling. There are times I'll check accounts from a dozen+ IPs in a single week - and don't want that to also incur penalities.

Yes, I agree. I used to work for Doubleclick, and even though people hated them for their cookies, they actually supported online ad agencies, which I assume, that is pretty much what you are :)

Ouch, I'll have to watch this. I travel a fair amount and could run up a number of IPs in a week. Work, temp home, real home, airport, maybe a dialup thrown in somewhere sheesh.

I guess the temporary solution would be to VPN to the work network and use remote desktop to access a stable computer for access. It is a lot of extra work, but I found out the hard way that I need to do that with PayPal. I tried to access PayPal from my laptop when I was in Romania doing a training trip and they locked my account down for a week. The only reason I can think of is the ip resolved to Romania and they thought it was a hack attempt or something since they would never give me any reason or other information.

I have been quite disappointed with the turnaround time for STARTING new accounts as well. It seems if there IS a problem, it takes forever to find out about it and get it resolved.

Yeah - It has happened to our client accounts a few times.

But I fail to understand Google's logic behind freezing such accounts. Isn't the username/password security enough?

I compared notes with another PPC manager and we haven't noticed this. I manage 3 accounts from one IP and they are also accessed from 2 or 3 continents almost daily. I also check them while travelling. No problems so far.

I check accounts from home, work, overseas and on the road as do some of my colleagues. I've not noticed this - maybe I haven't done enough checking from different places in one week yet. :)
