this phrase-match keyphrase:
"vintage porsche"
and this broad-match keyword:
porsche
...what happens if someone searches for "vintage porsche" at google? Which of my keyords is credited with the impression/click and why?
Hopefully the exact-phrase is credited but I'm thinking that perhaps the broad-match porsche might be credited instead.

there is nothing like turning targeted marketing into a shotgun approach.
the manipulation of broad match amongst large advertisers at the expense of an open bidding market is as stomach turning as those innocents who just don't know that their ad is being served across serps with the only requisite being a single KW.
i see words like 'evil' to describe pfi while broad match operates in this vacuum of ambivalence. strange.

If have the following keyphrases in my adgroup:
red porsche
[red posrche]
"red porshe"
green porsche
"vintage porsche"
[classic porsche]
4x4 porsche
and also the following keyword in the same adgroup:
porsche
...then am I wasting my time with that first list of adwords because the broad keyword "porsche" will be served.
So what do I do? Remove the "porsche" keyword? I don't want to compete for "porsche" on it's own really, my CTR would'nt be good enough because I am selling a particular type of "porsche"
any help appreciated

If you have multiple KWs that could be shown for the same query, they compete with each other based on CTR and CPC to see which is shown.
You can also use negative matches to force G to show your phrase matches.
i.e.
broadmatch porchse
-red
-vintage
phrase match "red porche"
phrase match "vintage porche"
Now when someone does a search for red porche or vintage porche, your broadmatch will not be shown because of the negative keyword.
